From the hymn to the screen, and the story beyond it.
The story
UKrestu Engomeni: A Hymn’s Journey traces the story and significance of a hymn, exploring the people, history and meaning carried through the music.
Our work stretched beyond the documentary itself. Alongside contributing to the film, we developed the social rollout around its release, thinking about how a longer-form story could be introduced in smaller pieces without giving too much away before audiences had the chance to watch it.
The goal: build curiosity around the documentary, give audiences a way into its story and create momentum towards release.
What we made
We worked across the documentary and its supporting content, carrying the story from long-form film into a social-first rollout.
For the release campaign, the documentary became the source material for a series of promotional touchpoints, including a teaser and supporting social content designed to introduce its world, establish intrigue and gradually reveal more of the story.
Rather than trying to summarise the documentary on social, the rollout treated each asset as an entry point into the larger narrative. The teaser could create anticipation. Supporting content could add context. And the film itself remained the place where the full story unfolded.
It meant thinking about the documentary not as one finished asset, but as the centre of a content ecosystem built around release.
One long-form story. A few carefully chosen ways in.
